Week 1
June 1-5, 2015
Never would I have thought that my last nine credits in college would be spent in Washington, D.C. interning at an event planning company, but I could not be more grateful to be exactly where I am at. My first week in D.C. and at BRAVO! has opened my eyes to many new experiences, cultures, ideas and opportunities that I was not aware of before. One particular experience I will take with me forever is working on the BRAVO! team with an extraordinary non-profit, Whitman-Walker Health.
My first week I was thrown into my first event with this incredible organization who has just created a beautiful new facility to continue their mission of providing healthcare to the LGBTQ community. The facility is not only both modern and remarkable, but also gives a feeling of togetherness and equality. Working this event and seeing so many driven people to help such a great cause has driven me as well.
As for what comes next in this journey in D.C. that has just begun, I am not exactly sure. What I am sure of is making the most out of this experience and amazing opportunity I have been offered. At this point, I can honestly say that I am blessed to be working with such an incredible team of people within this extraordinary city that has so much to offer. No, I did not think this is where I would be at this point in my life but I know everything happens for a reason and I am excitingly living out that reason right now.
Cheers to whatever comes next! I am excited to see everything this company and city has to offer.
