Week 3
September 14 - September 18, 2015
Just when I thought life in D.C. couldn’t get any better, this weekend proved me totally wrong. Between our first BRAVO! event coming to life and one of my favorite people flying in to visit, I have enough material to spend my entire workday writing this blog. I’ll spare you all the details and hit the highest points, because I know my parents are the only ones who will read this if I ramble on for too long.
After a busy week of preparation, BRAVO! hosted our After Hours event at the Hirshorn Museum last Friday. It was so rewarding to see all of our hard work come together as Tycho’s concert sold out, a first for the After Hours in almost a decade. I don’t think I stopped smiling all night as I realized just how much I love watching plans transform into a live experience that others get to enjoy. I truly loved every minute—from slipping backstage with my fellow interns Tracy and Blair to checking IDs and chatting with concert goers—none of it felt like work!
The fun didn’t stop when the show ended, as my boyfriend came in town from Fort Worth to visit. We made up for a month of long distance in about 48 hours by finding incredible brunches, stumbling upon a Plain White T’s concert on the Capitol lawn, running into three separate street fairs, hanging on a rooftop long enough to get decently sunburnt, dancing wherever we felt like it, paying Lincoln a visit, and making lots of friends along the way (mainly waiters and Uber drivers). This city just keeps getting better, and I love getting to experience it with people I care about!
This week promises to be another busy one. The Pope comes in today and our next event is Friday. I’m going to need some serious coffee to make it through, but I’m beyond excited for all that’s to come!
