Week 3

Since arriving in DC a few weeks ago, my adventure has been full of “firsts.” First time on the metro, first time getting lost on the metro, first Georgetown Cupcake experience, first Nationals Game…. The list goes on. Last week did not disappoint in adding to the list as I experienced my first BRAVO! event. We worked with the Smithsonian Media Group to host their After Hours concert at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden featuring Tycho. The event sold out (for the first time in ten years!) and was a great success overall. Guests throughout the night kept approaching the team to express their excitement and gratitude. It was so rewarding to see it all come together in the end.
After Hours turned out to be only the beginning of an incredible weekend. A group of us from TCU headed to the H Street festival for some food and music. DC’s neighborhood festivals have proven to be fantastic ways to experience the different vibes of each area in the city. Each neighborhood is so different. You could say each has its own "brand," and these street festivals are just another medium to share that brand's story.
Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, my roommates and I made the trek out to Georgetown to visit the university. Eventually, we found ourselves at the waterfront and hopped on our friend’s boat and rode up and down the Potomac. The view of the city from the Potomac is picturesque. I honestly could have spent the entire day out on the water. It reminded me that just when you think you know DC, it surprises you with a completely different perspective.
