Week 10
October 2 - October 6, 2015
I am about one month from the end of my time in D.C. and cannot believe how quickly it’s flown by. This place has become more and more familiar, as I’ve learned to navigate the Metro without Google maps, constantly bump into friends all over the city, and even recognize the waiters at my favorite sushi restaurant in China Town. Although I’ve quickly acclimated to life in the Capital, I’m also preparing for my next big step and looking forward to heading back to Texas in the spring.
This weekend, my boyfriend paid another visit from Fort Worth. We spent our time dancing around Adams Morgan, brunching for no less than three hours at Cava Mezze (we highly recommend the bottomless mimosas), browsing puzzles and aprons near Eastern Market, and practicing our vineyard vocabulary on a wine tour with the BRAVO! crew in Virginia. Chase even got to help me register for my last semester of college classes, which truly made me realize how soon I’ll be returning home to finish up my time at TCU. These last few days were such a much needed break, and I’m so thankful for the time we got to spend together!
Although I’m looking forward to heading back to Portland for Christmas then Fort Worth in January, there’s still a lot to be done—and a lot of fun to be had—here in Washington. Tonight is the Whitman-Walker Health Gala (our final event!) and I head to Boston to visit one of my very best friends Kate this weekend. It doesn’t seem like life is going to slow down anytime soon, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
