Week 8

October 21 - October 25, 2016

She’s creepy and she’s kooky, mysterious and spooky, she’s altogether ooky, IT’S ALEX PERRY!

Welcome to November folks! Farewell Halloween, HELLLLLLOOOO CHRISTMAS *I’m shootin’ guns in the air in my mind* (Side note: has anyone ever thought about where those bullets go? Same!)

Halloween was a BLAST and it started on Tuesday night! Bryan (best coworker ever) DRAGged me to the Annual DC High Heel Drag Queen Race after work and we caught up with some of his wicked teammates from Stonewall Kickball! I met some truly gr8 folks (including Wendy and Darwin who make an appearance further down but HEY, eyes up here!) and got to see some truly gr8 racerz. After a faaaaabulous parade fashion show, participants lined up and sprinted about three blocks in high heels. YAAAAS QUEEN!

The rest of the week I prepared myself for Halloween weekend because FACT: Halloween on a Monday means Halloween is ACTUALLY all weekend long. I enjoyed Little Miss Whiskey’s (we’re regulars) with Little Miss TJ on Friday night and then got ready to be one of my fave characters on Saturday: Louise Belcher! (I know, for those who know me well, boooo costume repeater!)

I met up with best coworker ever, Bryan, his friend from out of town, Cassie, and two of Bryan’s wonderful roommates, Marissa and Lizzie, so we could go over to my BRAVO! coworker Michelle’s Housewarming, Haunting and Hilarity Halloween and Birthday party! Group pic above, and Happy Birthday Michelle! After a lovely time, I said farewell to Bryan & Co., met up with my roommate briefly on U Street, and then hitched a ride (took an uber, MOM) to Columbia Heights to see my very new friends Wendy and Darwin! Wendy drove us over to Arlington so we could go to a party that promised a Beerolympics. It turned out the Beerolympics was basically over… but they did have onion dip! Swiggity swag. After being in DC for the past few months, I’ve been floored by how many interesting people I have met who all do such different things from one another. How r u all so c00l?

Work wise? The time has come, everyone – the gala is THIS FRIDAY, November 4th! The BRAVO! team is roaring and ready to go and can’t wait to manage a night everyone will remember for the DC Chamber of Commerce. This upcoming week at work? A seating meeting, staffing coordination, and tying up loose ends! I can’t wait to finally see the end product of what the BRAVO! team has been working on since I arrived in August. AND Doug E Fresh and Biz Markie are PERFORMING! I KNOW, YOU GUYS! Pretty soon Biz might just be one of my friends! *Ba dum tss*

Interested in what happens the day-of a huge event? Curious about what’s the next thing I describe as “swiggity swag”? Want to be aggressively told to vote? Tune in next week to read a play-by-play of the Chamber’s Choice Awards and Gala!
